In early November, Khoury’s cousin invited her to visit her home in Gilbert, Arizona. She was excited about a relaxing trip with her close relative, away from the busy hustle of her life. On November 3, after finishing some errands with her cousin, she drove to her residence. She took a selfie in the car and shared it but after cropping the picture. She cropped her after realizing a small zit near her lips.
After arriving at her cousin’s home, she started petting her cousin’s dog Diesel. Diesel was an 8 years old blue nose pitbull. She had met him many times before as well. Brooklinn was like, what a good boy, and Diesel sprung up onto her face. She was stunned, the dog sitting there just let on her face when she was standing in the kitchen.
Khoury didn’t know what to do. In haste, she started moving where the dog took her. As the dog was totally hanging — like his arms and legs were hanging from Khoury’s lips. On instinct, she sat down on the ground with him and headed where he went. After some time, she felt a release. She also said to a source that she remembers when Diesel released her she heard something fly and hit the wall.
Senses were coming back to her, she took a deep breath to relax her tensed self. Brooklinn tasted blood when she was having deep breaths. She looked down and saw blood everywhere, on her shirt and the floor. She told a source, “My whole shirt was just blood”.
On the floor, there was a pink lump drenched in blood. At that moment, she realized that it was her lips which she had just cropped from her selfie. It was such an unfortunate event. She took a napkin and covered her lip in it and drove to an emergency room with her cousin.
Despite the girls acting promptly, the surgeons couldn’t save Brooklinn’s lips. And she bore this unfortunate news quite bravely and posted a picture of her lying in the hospital on her social account.
Brooklinn documented her whole healing journey from the beginning to the end. She always revealed the bad and good moments of her skating and she thought that she would reveal this unfortunate event to the world as well. Khoury is of the view, ”Life is not perfect” and although, Instagram is a place where people hide their true selves. She refuses to become like them and thinks that one learns from their mistakes.

She admitted that when she saw her face for the first time after surgery, she felt her face was scary. But she didn’t let dismay take over her. She was like, ”Okay, time to love this new version of myself.” She also said that she wants people to know that they’re not alone even if something horrible happened to them.

In a YouTube video, the 22 years old influencer shared that she has found a surgeon to restore her top lip and some parts of her nose. She’s going through her five reconstructive lip surgeries to rebuild her upper lip. Her surgeon defines the process as an art project in which they’re going to do a tissue transplant and skin graft from her arms.
Her first surgery was scheduled for November 17. She said that she found this surgeon after looking here and there for a year. The only thing that worries her now is that she would have to feed through a feeding tube after the surgery. She explained further that she’s an active and lively person, so this will be a little hard for her.
She’s having ‘mixed feelings.’ She wants to start her journey of healing but it would cease her normal life. But she is choosing her healing journey over her social life. She’ll be taking a break while seeking love and support from her admirers.
She opened up about her Instagram on the first anniversary of this tragic incident and told us that she learnt a lot in the last year. And learnt to love herself from the inside out and got to know how valuable life is. She said, It has shown me the value of life. I will never take it for granted again.”
